Please check your order carefully; double check all personal details, including address and telephone number,
ensure the goods on your invoice are the goods that you have ordered and, in the sizes, and quantities you have ordered etc. If you notice anything is wrong, please let us know within 24 hours of purchase so that the necessary
information can be amended.

Orders placed that are to be installed cannot be cancelled within 24 hours of the agreed upon fitting date.

Fitting, Storage and Delivery of Purchased
Goods

  • Quality Control

If you have opted for Simply Carpets
to arrange self-employed fitters to install your goods, our store staff will check all goods prior to leaving the store. This ensures that goods leaving our store do so in the best possible condition. Once the goods arrive at your property, you should ensure that they are checked and to your satisfaction prior to
fitting. Once fitted, the installed goods should be checked for quality workmanship. Should you notice a discrepancy with the goods or installation of goods, it is important that you let us know within 48 hours.

  • Colour Match

When ordering a large quantity of carpet, it may be required to cut your order from more than one roll. Due to the way carpets are made, we cannot guarantee that colour matches will be exact.
If you are planning on doing another room later with the same carpet, you should keep in mind that the colour may not be an exact match to the original
order.

  • Dates and Times

Delivery and fittings dates/times are estimated. We estimate the times based upon the work that is booked in before your installation or delivery. Due to the nature of the work, fitting floors can be complex and time consuming. With this in mind; Simply Carpets cannot be liable for loss of earnings, compensation due to manufacturing delays and/or
missed appointments either by Simply Carpets or third-party self-employed fitters.

  • Access and Parking

Please ensure that there is adequate free parking and clear access to the property. It is your responsibility to ensure that the goods can be easily transported into your property.

  • Fitting

Simply Carpets do not offer a fitting service that is integrated with our business. If you would like to have your goods fitted, Simply Carpets can arrange self-employed fitters on your behalf. When agreeing to this service, you allow Simply Carpets to become your agent and authorise us to enter an oral contract with an appropriate independent self-employed fitter on your behalf. This allows us to liaise with the fitter and yourself to arrange a convenient day for both parties to fit your goods (and removal if arranged, please see “Uplift, Disposal and Furniture”).

Any liability for the goods and services provided by Simply Carpets is maintained by Simply Carpets. The appointed fitter is responsible for the quality of their work and any liability that arises from installation/delivery of the goods.

All fitting quotes provided are for the fitting of the goods shown on your order. You can arrange any other work directly with the fitter and the fitter will quote for this on a separate basis.

  • Fitting Costs

All installation costs are to be paid directly to the fitter upon completion of the work. If the fitting is being finished on various occasions, the fitter is to be paid for the agreed upon amount upon completion of the agreed amount of work on each visit.

  • Fitter Travel Costs

All self-employed fitters appointed by Simply Carpets are expected to cover their own travel expense, up to a 20-mile round trip. Should the round trip be further than 20 miles, or if there are toll charges, ferry charges or parking restrictions; this may incur extra costs payable to the fitter.

  • Décor Damage and Scuffs

All self-employed fitters as appointed by Simply Carpets will take the utmost care when they’re inside your property. As it is, we are all human at the end of the day and accidents do happen. All our appointed fitters have their own public liability insurances in place.

Please ensure that ample time has been left to allow new décor to dry. New paint and wallpaper are vulnerable to scuffs and scratches. We often advise that two weeks is enough time to wait before fitting flooring. Simply Carpets, nor the appointed fitter will carry out any redecoration on your property, except in an instance of proven fitter negligence.

  • Door Trimming

If you have opted for a particularly thick carpet and underlay combination, you may find that your doors may need to be trimmed to allow the door to clear the carpet without rubbing. This is a chargeable service that can be provided upon request. If this service has not been requested the fitters may remove internal wooden doors to facilitate your chosen goods. It is your responsibility to arrange a carpenter to trim the doors the fitter has removed.

There are exceptions where Simply Carpets will not arrange for the door trimming service, nor will our appointed self-employed fitter; external doors, fire doors, non-wooden doors. The appointed fitter will not remove external doors, fire doors and non-wooden doors. Nor would Simply Carpets arrange to do so. Any arrangements to remove the previously mentioned doors are your responsibility and should be made prior to your fitting date.

  • Storage

All purchased goods are stored in our warehouse for a maximum of six months. This includes part-fitted goods. Within this time you must arrange to have the carpets fitted, either by one of our appointed self-employed fitters or your own fitter. If you are not having the goods fitted, they must be collected. If you are unable to collect or have your goods fitted, further chargeable storage can be arranged. Any carpets stored after the first six months; you accept all responsibility for any damage that may occur to the goods. If you do not contact us within the six months then you authorise us to dispose of your goods and Simply Carpets cannot be liable.

Uplift, Disposal and Furniture

  • Uplift

If you have opted for our chargeable uplift and disposal service, the fitter will remove your old flooring prior to fitting your new goods from Simply Carpets. The fitters will not remove any flooring if there is heavy soiling or risk to their health and safety.

  • Disposal

The fitter will bring the disposal items back to Simply Carpets, if this service has been arranged. If you have not opted for this service, the fitter will bag up your waste for you to dispose of. If you would like to keep any of the offcuts, then please let the fitter know prior to the clean-up. If you would like to get any offcuts bound, this service
can be found at Fringes of Plymouth where you will receive 50% off when you produce a Simply Carpets receipt. Please note, our fitters will not take your offcuts to be bound on your behalf.

  • Furniture

Fitters will only move furniture where this service has been agreed upon by Simply Carpets. Please ensure that all contents are removed from furniture to make them easier to manoeuvre. If you have not opted for this service, it is your responsibility to ensure that the room is clear of all furniture prior to the arrival of the fitters. Any items that may require moving that haven’t been agreed upon prior to fitting may incur additional charges payable to the fitter.

Measures, Estimates and Sub Floor
Preparation

  • Measures

Our team will do our utmost to ensure that our estimator can get out to your property at a time to suit you. We will only carry out and take responsibility for any free measure, survey or estimate when the goods to be installed are purchased from Simply Carpets. All measure sheets and plans remain the property of Simply Carpets until such time as the goods have been purchased. If no purchase is to be made, the measure and plan sheets will be destroyed.

  • Surveys & Sub Floors

Simply Carpets can only survey what can be seen without physically moving anything. If you need us to survey a sub floor, it is your responsibility to ensure the entire area to be surveyed is free and clear for inspection.

Upon completion of the survey, we will advise on the course of action to be taken prior to installation. This work can either be carried out by yourself, or we can arrange a fitter for you at your cost.

Please note: if you opt to do the work yourself there are regulations that the work needs to conform to. We will advise you on the manufacturer instructions. There are also British Standards that the works need to conform to.

  • Quotes

We make our quotes based upon the sub floor being to the appropriate standard prior to quotation. It is up to you to make sure that the sub floor is to the required standard. If you are unsure on this, we can provide a free survey. Any appointed fitter will only prepare the sub floor if arrangements have been made for this service, if not they will fit
your goods onto the sub floor as it is. If the goods become damaged because of the sub floor not being to the required standard, you are responsible for the cost of rectification of the sub floor and the cost of replacing goods. If Simply Carpets did the survey of the sub floor, Simply Carpets would be responsible.

Liability

Sometimes things don’t run as smoothly as you want them to. If you identify any issues with the fitting of your goods, Simply Carpets will send out the appropriate fitter to rectify the work. Any and all contracts for fitting are between the fitter and yourself. Thisdoes not affect your statutory rights.

If you are looking to use our products for a commercial use, please speak to a member of staff and we will advise the best products for you. Should you choose a product that is not recommended for commercial use, this is up to you. However, all terms, conditions and warranties implied by law (other than warranty as to title) are excluded. You will be advised as such and you can make an informed choice. In this instance, Simply Carpets will only be liable for the costs of replacing defective goods. We accept no liability for loss of earnings/profit/income or any indirect/consequential losses whatsoever.
